7/11/2012 - In a few months, we will be taking in 1-2-yr-old single-breasted bronze turkey hens from a breeding farm. The hens are from a turkey breeding farm that produces a small number of turkey chicks for Thanksgiving slaughter. The farmer agreed to release the hens. There is a $20 adoption fee per bird.
There is also an 8-yr-old bourbon red senior turkey who is practically blind in need of permanent placement. He is not in our custody, but we are screening prospective homes for the guardian. He is very friendly with people and other birds, but he cannot fly or perch.
