How Now Brown Cow
Brr! It's getting a little cold (for us Californians, that is) so why not curl up by the fire, read a good book and sip hot cocoa out of a Howie mug?

Blog Spotlight -
But did they EAT it?
Creativity is at the heart of this blog. The author devises her own recipes (for the most part) and shares them with her family. Of course, the all important question is: Did they EAT it?

Issue: #3 September/2007
Animal Place is gearing up for a phenomenal campaign that will reduce the suffering of millions of Californian farmed animals. And we're hoping you can help!

Right now, we need people to attend one of four kick-off parties held in early October. As the campaign gears up and goes into full swing, we'll let you know other ways to help.

Californians! Help prevent cruelty to farmed animals!
Attend one of four campaign kick-off rallies across the state.

Kick-off rally, you ask? Yes! California animal protection groups are working to get an initiative on the November 2008 ballot. The measure would ban the cruel confinement of veal calves, egg-laying hens and breeding sows. The measure would phase out the use of battery cages for egg-laying hens, gestation crates for breeding sows and veal crates for calves.

In order for this initiative to qualify for the ballot, though, we need to collect 650,000 signatures in five short months!!

There will be four kick-off campaigns and signature gathering rallies in early October. Join the team and help fight farmed animal cruelty!

Guest speakers include Wayne Pacelle, CEO of HSUS & Gene Bauer, President of Farm Sanctuary.
