Issue: #2 November/2007
Honor the turkeys with a delicious, meat-free feast for all to enjoy. We've put together a holiday menu and provided links to some great sources for you to peruse. Try some tofu turkey with roasted garlic gravy, green beans with fresh cranberries, creamy chive mashed potatoes and follow it up with some delicious, vegan pie.  Visit our website for recipes and more information.

If you haven't already, we hope you'll start phasing meat and animal products out of your diet. We can be thankful for this fact: we don't need the flesh and by-products of other animals to survive. There are hundreds of plant-based foods to pick from, and thousands of mouth-watering recipes to enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving from the turkeys and humans at Animal Place!

Calling all Teens
Want to get published?!?

Teen Ink is a national magazine written, created and published by teenagers. It gives teens a voice - to speak up for animals, the environment or fellow humans. An article by Courtney Bradford of Arkansas mentions Animal Place director, Kim Sturla, and her story of compassionate chickens. Courtney's article is a tribute to our feathered friends. She encourages readers to see chickens as intelligent, emotional animals who make wonderful companions. Read the article.

If you are a teenager with a love of art, photography or writing, please visit Teen Ink's website. Teen Ink accepts poems, essays, photography, fictional works and other artwork. We hope you are inspired to write about animal rights or veganism. Your voice matters.

Please follow Teen Ink's submission guidelines.
