JOB OPENING: Marketing / Fundraising / Campaigns

Organization: Animal Place is a nonprofit sanctuary and education center for farmed animals. It operates two shelters in northern California – a 600-acre sanctuary in Grass Valley, (60 miles north of Sacramento) and its Rescue Ranch adoption center in Vacaville (50 miles east of San Francisco). This position will be working out of the Grass Valley site alongside a staff of ten.
Position Objectives: To establish a marketing and outreach program promoting and raising funds for Animal Place and to orchestrate annual campaigns.
Reports to: Executive Director
Responsibilities and Duties
This grassroots position requires the wearing of multiple hats
- Create and oversee corporate sponsorship program
- Create and manager a marketing plan
- Initiate and manage fundraising projects
- Write and manage donor appeals
- Expand the donor base with focus of it becoming multi generational
- Plan and implement outreach campaigns
- Reestablish the Food for Thought campaign
- Coordinate the annual Veggie Cook-Off event
- Coordinate Facebook advertising and interface with respondents
- Assist with media outreach (write press releases, letters to the editor, and Op-eds)
- Coordinate the donor partnership program
- Generate, encourage and maximize community participation and contributions
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications
- Interest in and commitment to animal protection and veganism
- Ability to professionally advocate Animal Place’s positions on issues
- Knowledge of factory farming issues
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Experience in navigating different social media platforms
- Relationship builder - commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups
- Self-starter; can work independently; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
- Well organized
- Previous work in animal protection strongly preferred (paid or volunteer)
- Personable and friendly
Salary and benefits: Salary negotiable; two weeks paid vacation, some holidays and medical.
