Job Title: Events & Outreach Coordinator
Job Status: Full-time, Grass Valley
Reports to: Program Director
Job Description: Assisting in the scheduling and managing of events, coordinating and conducting tours (guided and private); supervising tour docents. Secure sponsorships for larger events. Expanding outreach efforts locally, offsite, and onsite. Assist with day-to-day operations of Animal Place’s Guest House.
Qualifications
- A strong commitment to Animal Place’s mission of veganism and animal rights
- Ability to work independently in a fashion that maintains strong and open lines of communication with supervisor and colleagues
- Outgoing personality and ability to tactfully deal with difficult community questions
- Comfortable working collaboratively and able to manage stressful situations calmly
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to meet deadlines, under pressure
- Willingness to learn and ask questions
- Comfortable with Google Drive (docs, spreadsheets)
- Experience assisting with or coordinating events a plus
- Flexible schedule (Tuesday – Saturday, evenings/nights as needed)

Job Duties
- Events & Tours
- Assist in the coordination, development, and implementation of small and large onsite, offsite, and virtual events.
- Table at our offsite events
- Develop and maintain relationships with businesses and other non-profits
- Create and maintain registration pages for all events and tours
- Add all events and tours to our Google calendar, website, and local, regional, and national calendars.
- Become familiar with animal residents and their stories
- Lead private and public guided tours
- Monitor and track results from tour surveys
- Communicate effectively with visitors and answer any questions, comments, or concerns
- Secure sponsorships (fiscal, in-kind) for events and Guest House
- Expand onsite visitorship through increased community outreach and events
- Outreach
- Increase outreach efforts locally to the Nevada/Placer/Sacramento County areas
- Expand student outreach through direct contact with schools – tours, speaking engagements
- Secure speaking engagements for appropriate staff
- Secure and coordinate tabling/exhibit opportunities at offsite events and conferences
- Coordinate and host local events
- Table at local and northern California events
- Work with local businesses and other non-profits on collaborative efforts
- Increase engagement with local animal non-profits
- Management
- Train and supervise Tour Docents and ensure they are adequately trained on running tours; schedule them to run guided tours
- Guest House duties (to be shared)
- Process bookings and communicate with guests
- Take on 30 minute guided tour or 2 hour paid private tour (or coordinate with tour docent)
- Laundry and maintain cleanliness of house
- Other tasks as assigned by Program Director
Salary: $15/hour or TBD based on experience – evaluate in 3-mos with pay increase
Benefits: Health care (includes optometry) after 3 months; 6 paid holidays; 10 days vacation
