On October 8th, people across the country will celebrate DAF(FODIL) Day by recommending grants from their Donor-Advised Funds to their favorite nonprofits. In our case, you can recommend a grant for my favorite – soon to be your favorite – blind cow, Daffodil!
Before I tell you what a DAF even is, I need you to know who Daffodil is! So here are five fast facts about the best cow in the world:
- Daffodil is blind and has mapped out the 20-acre pasture she and her herd live in (because Daffodil is a genius).
- She arrived in 2017, after the farm she lived on planned to sell her for slaughter so he could grow grapes. What the heck?
- Rescued calf, Millie, has decided Daffodil is her Best Friend, and Daffodil has accepted.
- Daffodil loves all things hay-cube related.
- Daffodil was terrified of people when she arrived, but after I fed her 1.5 million hay cubes (no exaggeration), she now loves people. (She’d love to meet you someday!)
Okay, so what is a Donor-Advised Fund?
Donor-Advised Funds are charitable giving accounts. Anyone can open a DAF and receive an immediate tax benefit.
Why are we participating in DAF Day?
Because it is DAF(FODIL) Day and we will always find a reason to share Daffodil. Also, DAF giving is the fastest-growing way to support nonprofits. If you already have a DAF, you can give to Daffodil right now without spending an extra cent.
Don’t have a DAF? No problem! You can support Daffodil’s care with a one-time or monthly donation.
But if you do have a DAF, you can put those dollars to work immediately and help us make a difference for animals like Daffodil. I will even send you a photo of Daffodil as a small gesture of thanks!
