LEAP (Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet) is a revolutionary humane education program providing high school students across the nation with a compassionate alternative to traditional agriculture programs like 4H and FFA. A comprehensive four-year program taught by participating farm animal sanctuaries, LEAP combines interactive curriculum modules with hands-on learning activities, leadership training, and real-world skill development. LEAP aims to prepare the next generation of changemakers to tackle the challenges of animal cruelty, climate change, food deserts, and habitat loss, and encourages them to devise solutions for a more compassionate, sustainable food system.

The 2024-2025 Animal Place program runs from September – June. Curriculum and interactive workshops are hosted every second Saturday of the month from 10:00am-3:00 pm, starting September 14, 2024. Students will also participate in 4 monthly service hours. Service hours can be completed M-F from 8:30-4:30 and in whatever time intervals works for the student. Students have the opportunity to complete service hours through barn cleaning, tours, events, tabling, and admin help.

Students will have the opportunity to work hands on with farmed animals and learn how to provide them care. They’ll tackle challenges in climate change, animal welfare, and the food system through interactive workshops. And they’ll learn skills and tasks to thrive as leaders.

Application period: April 25 – August 25
Students will be notified of acceptance via email by September 1

Students must be 16 years or older.
