In February, Tilly made a daring leap, literally. She jumped off a truck headed for slaughter and landed on the side of a highway. Bruised, limping, and scraped up, she was found by a Good Samaritan who ensured she made it to safety. Miraculously, she survived.
But Tilly’s journey to recovery is far from over.
A wildlife rehabilitator cared for Tilly, but broad-breasted turkeys like her require specialized care. Sadly, her foot, shattered from the jump, was misdiagnosed as an infection and went untreated for four months. When she arrived at Animal Place, x-rays revealed multiple fractures and a bone infection in her right foot.
She’s also severely overweight, tipping the scale at 27 pounds. For comparison, our other turkeys weigh closer to 13-14 pounds. Tilly will need to shed about 12 pounds to live her best life. She’s now on a special diet and has already won over our hearts with her sweet, gentle spirit.
💚 Donate today and your gift will be DOUBLED for Tilly.
Your support helps fund her ongoing treatment: antibiotics, pain management, proper diet, and specialized care like limb perfusion.
Whether you donate or simply cheer her on, thank you for rooting for Tilly. She’s proof that bravery and kindness can change a life.
