• Public Guided Tour – June 21st @ 10 AM

Animal Place 17314 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley, CA, United States

Join us for our next public guided tour on Father’s Day! Visit with some of the 200+ rescued farmed animal residents who call Animal Place home and hear their stories! You will get to meet goats, sheep, and rabbits. Cows and pigs may come up to the fence for treats. Note that the Bird Barn may be closed to visitors due to Avian Influenza.

Public guided tour tickets are $20 and can be purchased HERE. Children ages 2 and under are free. Your tour will last 1.5 hours and entail about 1/2 mile of walking on flat pavement and gravel and entering pastures. Our facility is wheelchair accessible, but there are some rocky/uneven portions of the property.

To visit with the animals, pants and shin-high boots are mandatory (boots are available to borrow at the sanctuary, but in limited quantities and sizes). Boots provide added protection when interacting directly with the large animals. Socks are not provided, so please remember to bring your own. We share the property with lots of wildlife, including rattlesnakes.

  • LEAP Summer Day Camp 2026

Animal Place 17314 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley, CA, United States

Animal Place is participating in LEAP!

The Animal Place Kids’ Summer Camp for incoming 6th-8th graders will run from July 27-31. Curriculum and interactive workshops are hosted every day from 10:00 am-3:00 pm, starting Monday, July 27th. Students will have the opportunity to work hands-on with farmed animals and learn how to provide them with care. They’ll tackle challenges in climate change, animal welfare, and the food system through interactive workshops, and they’ll learn skills and tasks to thrive as leaders.

    What is LEAP?

LEAP (Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet) is a revolutionary humane education program providing students across the nation with a compassionate alternative to traditional agriculture programs like 4H and FFA. Taught by participating farmed animal sanctuaries, LEAP combines interactive curriculum modules with hands-on learning activities, leadership training, and real-world skill development. LEAP aims to prepare the next generation of changemakers to tackle the challenges of animal cruelty, climate change, food deserts, and habitat loss, and encourages them to devise solutions for a more compassionate, sustainable food system.

    Dates: July 27-31

Time: 10 AM to 3 PM
