Arrival: 11/3/2012

Theodore is a Holstein, a breed used for milk. As a male, he held no value to the dairy farm – he could not become pregnant and produce milk.

A backyard slaughterer bought Theo directly from the farm and confined him to a backyard in urban Sacramento, CA. Unhappy with his situation, Theo busted out and ran into a neighbor’s yard. That neighbor called Sacramento City Animal Control, who confiscated brave little Theo. His “owner” signed over custody and Theo found his way to sanctuary at Animal Place.

Theo is a tall, nerdy bovine. He often prefers spending time by himself or simply observing the other cows. As he has matured, he has made attempts at challenging Murphy to duels. Murphy, being a kind and gentle leader, allows this and mildly rebukes Theo.

If you would like to spare animals like Theodore the pain of being separated from their mothers and facing cruelty, the easiest way to do it is to go vegan. Both dairy and meat industries exploit animals, break up families, are unconcerned with giving nonhumans the respect they deserve, and kill animals at small fractions of their natural lives.

We have a handy Humane Eating Guide you can receive; all you need to do is cover the cost of postage. Our Guide fits in your wallet and suggests commercially available alternatives to animal flesh, dairy, and eggs.

Theodore is very special & I’m so glad he escaped from a horrible fate. He deserves to be loved & have a safe place to spend the rest of his life. Wouldn’t you love to be able to rescue ALL of the animals suffering? My heart breaks for them & this is why I am a proud vegan.

Words. Deeds. I can’t sit here and cry for all those who do not have Theodore’s good fortune, and continue to eat dairy products. I have been a vegetarian for 25 years, but honestly, if the male calves of dairy cows are abused in this cruel way (taken from their mothers immediately! Little babies, completely without anyone to defend their right to a life. Decades of this industrial farming, and industrial dairy farming. My heart is breaking a million times.) My rejection of cheese can be my statement, and a small bit of solace in a life that I know will not see the end of this astounding injustice towards all of the world’s other INHABITANTS who we run roughshod over. Anyone else feel like we deserve whatever we have coming to us the next 4 years? More and more disrespect and inequality for all that is around us, with us, on this earth. When will this ever end…

Thank you for your kindness. It is so hard for most people to see (and really acknowledge) the terrible nature of the dairy industry. Choosing not to eat cheese and butter and milk will help so many creatures in so many ways – physical and emotional. Thank you for your message and for your action.

  2. I precisely had to thank you very much once again. I’m not certain what I might have created in the
absence of the type of aspects discussed by you on such topic.
Certainly was an absolute troublesome problem in my position, however , taking
note of the very professional manner you resolved the
issue took me to weep with happiness. Now i am happier for your information as well as have
high hopes you recognize what an amazing job you were
undertaking training many others with the aid of your blog post.

I know that you have never met any of us. http://www.seaside-residences.sg/
