Millions of Americans voted to end one of the cruelest practices in factory farming: gestation crates. These two-foot-by-seven-foot metal cages trap pregnant pigs for virtually their entire lives, unable to turn around, lie down comfortably, or engage in any natural behavior. California passed Prop 12. Massachusetts passed Question 3. Voters did the work. Now Congress wants to erase it at a national level.
